UFO Bridge Tower Re-Opened
Bratislava New Bridge, a unique single-pylon
cable-stay bridge, was declared to be the structure of the last
century in Slovakia. Although it was constructed as early as in
1972, it was not until this summer that the flying saucer-shaped
café on the top became a popular tourist attraction.
Being refurbished and open to the public, it offers trendy
restaurant featuring Mediterranean and Asian fusion, stylish
night club for up to 130 persons and the roofless observation
deck at 95 meters above the street level. A shaking elevator will
take you up to the UFO-like tower in about 45 seconds.
The admission to the observation deck is SKK 50 (approx EUR 1.30)
per person (complimentary with the table reservation in the restarant).
The stunning view it offers is really worth it. It is open daily
from 10am to 10pm.

Bratislava Coronation Festivities
After the tragic Battle of Mohac in 1526, Buda,
the capital of Hungary and the greater part of the country was
seized by the Turks. Ironically, this disaster affected Bratislava
positively, as the Hungarian nobility chose the city as a safe
place to stay in those hard times. The town of merchants, craftsmen
and wine-growers became the political centre of the country as
well as the coronation town of Hungarian emperors. The coronations
of 19 kings and queens took place in the St. Martin’s Cathedral
untill 1830.
To remind the heydays of the city, an annual Coronation Festivities
are held in September. Except for the coronation ceremony itself
in the St. Martin Cathedral, there are other interest events going
on, including Parade in the streets of the Old Town, the Knight’s
Tournament, Royal Luncheon, Medieval fashion show, fireworks,
etc. It is the perfect time to visit Bratislava and experience
this historical city at its best.

Cow Parade
Since 1999, when the first cow parade took place
in Chicago, the cows have invaded many major cities all over the
world. In the summer of 2005, cows took over the Old Town of Bratislava.
They were behind every corner of our historical city. Although
the high “cow season” is already over, there are still some cows
left in the streets of Bratislava.
