Bratislava
Shopping |
To be honest, there are definitely better places
in the world then Bratislava, as far as shopping is concerned.
Numerous shops and malls are spread all over the city, but not
all the popular outlet stores have arrived to Bratislava yet,
and the prices are not that low as you could expect from an Eastern
Europe country. However, in the narrow streets of the Old Town,
there are a few small Antiques and sometimes you can find
a real bargain there. If you like charming things from the past
do not miss the shops on Palackeho and Obchodna street.
The best shop for original Slovak souvenirs - folk handicrafts
is
ULUV (Centre for Folk Art Crafts) with its Court of Crafts
on Obchodna 64, or a shop on Namestie SNP 12, offering folk art
costumes, embroideries, woolen and flax fabrics, blue-prints,
glass paintings, wooden toys, etc.
Some nice pieces of work are offered on the Market on Hlavne
namestie (the Main Square) during summer.
INTERPRESS SLOVAKIA is a network of the best kiosks in
the city, offering many international newspapers and magazines,
Bratislava postcards and maps. Their shops are located Sedlarska
2 and in the Radisson SAS Hotel on Hviezdoslavovo namestie 3.
The best place for cheap clothing and accessories is the lively
Obchodna street with plenty cafes, restaurants and gold
jewellery stores along the whole street and some small chinese
markets sideways.
The largest shopping malls in Bratislava are:
AUPARK
SHOPPING CENTRE on Einsteinova street across the river from
the Old Town
AVION
SHOPPING PARK on Ivanska cesta on the way to the airport
POLUS
CITY CENTRE on Vajnorska street
TESCO department store on Kamenne namestie, TETA
on Dunajska street and BILLA supermarkets on Jesenskeho
and on Hodzovo namestie are the most convenient ones for grocery shopping
in the city centre. |
