What to do in Bratislava,
Slovakia
Bratislava and Slovakia still belong to undiscovered
travel destinations. Here are a few suggestions on what do in
Bratislava.
After you get
to Bratislava and check-in at one of the recommended
hotels or apartments,
just stroll around Korzo, the historical centre of the city and
the pedestrian only zone. Enjoy the historical architecture of
our "Little Big City" and meet some strange
local folks. Stop at one of the numerous cafes or restaurants
for a coffe or a drink and soak up the unique atmosphere of Bratislava.

Definitely do a little sightseeing. Either just walk around the
Old Town with the "must
see" sights, or you could go for one of the scheduled
city
tours. If you are into history and art, check one of Bratislava
museums and galleries.

Definitely do not miss Bratislava Castle. Even if you don’t feel
like seeing the medieval exhibits inside, it is worth just because
of the panoramic view of the city it offers.

The most popular half day trip is a visit to Devin,
once mighty Castle on the steep rock nearby Bratislava. A pleasant
boat trip will take you to the place with history dating back
to 5000 BC. An alternative could be a visit of the Danubiana
Art Gallery located on the edge of a peninsula of the Danube
river with a pleasant garden full of Art.

As a full day trip, you could take a bus,
train
or a boat
to Vienna, the capital of Austria situated some 60 km (40
miles) only from Bratislava. Bratislava and Vienna (often called
"Twin Cities") are the 2 nearest capital cities in Europe
and both their past & present are closely linked. You will definitely
not get bored in Vienna.

To get around Bratislava, you can use the extensive system of
public
transportation. Keep in mind, that the historical heart of
Bratislava is a pedestrian only area with cobble stone, so you might
want to take some comfortable shoes when you come.

After walking you may get hungry. Luckily, Bratislava offers numerous
dining
possibilities, ranging from local pubs with typical Slovak food
to trendy restaurants following the latest culinary trends.

Bratislava also offers an exciting night
life. Whether you just want to stop by for a drink or you
feel like party till down, there are many pubs, bars and discos
full of party people.

If drinking & dancing is not what you are looking for, you might
want to spend a night at the Opera.
The beautiful historical building on Hviezdoslavovo namestie houses
the Slovak National Theatre with the acclaimed Opera. Because
of really favourable rates, the performances are sought by Opera
lovers from all around Europe.

If you feel like relaxing, you can pamper yourself at the SABAI
- Thai Massage Centre located on Laurinska street in the Old
Town. It is recommended to make reservations at least 1 day in
advance.

Before you leave, you might also want to do some shopping
either in one of the shopping malls or you can search for some
typical Bratislava souvenirs in the small shops in the historical
centre of Bratislava. The most vibrant street with lots of shops, restaurants and pubs is the Obchodna street.
